Sew for Victory

Over at Lucky Lucille she is holding a 1940's sew a long called Sew For Victory.

The pattern I chose was Simplicity 3688 with the blouse option. Mainly because I have so few 1940s style blouses.

It will be an easy project and my first reproduction pattern.

Here's my pattern and fabric. Left overs from another project. I had plenty to work with! Our camera died early this year, so I have to document this all with my camera phone. Sorry for the crummy quality!

I'm quite excited. This is my first sew a long and my first reproduction pattern.

  1. Looking forward to seeing your finished project! I have that pattern myself, but have only made the pants and skirt. I'm happy to have you sew along! Thanks for posting about Sew For Victory :)

    1. Thank you, Rochelle! I already had plans to start this, but now I'll just join the sew a long just for fun.

  2. I think I have that pattern too. I will have to go dig through them and see. Good luck and I can't wait to see your finished product.

  4. I've looked at that pattern so often but never made it. Very interested to see how the blouse turns out!

    1. Do you have it in your stash, or is it in a wish list? I got this one for a decent price on line.

    2. Its just a wishlist piece. I would only ever wear the skirt so it probably isn't worth buying! You might change my mind though!

    3. Ah, well, after looking at the pattern, it's super easy. I even hear the pants are easy and everyone always complains how pants can be tricky to sew up.

  5. So exciting! I'm following Rochelle's sewalong as a bystander (not being much of a sewer myself), and cannot wait to see your blouse and everyone else's wonderful creations.

    1. Oh, this makes me sick!!! 20 cents, ugh! I think mine was for $8 shipping included. You should do this sew a long too! I would love to see your version.

  7. Oh awesome! I have this pattern, and the one that goes with it (sort of?) I think they were released at the same time at least. I should do the sewalong and see if I can find my "mojo"!!

    1. Oh, that would be cool. You mean the patter with the sort of scallop where the middle seam is on skirt and pant? I don't own that one, but think the pants would be awesome if you put buttons up the front like a sailor pant. Eeep!!
