A salute to...

The lovely, cute, and just downright sensational....Priscilla Lane.

Best known for her work in the Four Daughters series, Saboteur, Arsenic and Old Lace, and oodles of more great classic films.

I just love her sense of style. It's chic, fashionable, feminine and at the same time, simple, understated, clean, and something I can imagine myself doing if I had lived during the 40s.

I love her shoes. And the matching skirt jacket set is so darn cute!

I just love her hair. Jen of  A Vintage Vanity on youtube did a Prscilla Lane hair tutorial, similar to what she fashioned in Saboteur. I love that and I love her hair here. Simple and beautiful.

Priscilla did not have a long career in acting it spanned from 1937 to 1948 only eleven years. I do wish she had acted more.

If you would like to read more about Priscilla and her sisters, try Wikipedia and IMDB for more information.

  1. I've only seen her in Arsenic & Old Lace which is one of my favourite films. I love all the different ways she says "Oh, Mortimer!"

    1. That was the first film I saw her in, with the wonderful Cary Grant! {LOVE HIM!} She did have such a knack for comedy.

  2. She is one of those under-appreciated actresses. Hopefully TCM will show more of her movies.

    1. Definitely! She's one of my new favorite classic actresses. Me too, next year on her birthday I'm gonna have to record all of the films. :-)

  3. What delightful timing! I just watched a Priscilla Lane film (Three Cheers for the Irish from 1940) a few days ago and have had her on my mind ever since. I adore her sense of style, too. It's very sweet, feminine, and appealing - akin to how I like to dress and definitely inspiring for sure!

    1. Oh, how neato! I know same with me. I, myself, need to put more effort into my wardrobe.
